Bhutan’s Quiet Paths – From the Layap Mountain Village to the Tiger’s Nest

After a spectacular flight over the Himalayas, you land in Paro and receive a warm welcome. A short drive brings you to Thimphu, Bhutan's compact capital, where you can settle in and relax for the evening.

A full day to explore Bhutan's capital, from the impressive Tashichho Dzong to the giant Buddha Dordenma statue and traditional craft workshops. In the afternoon, take time to stroll through Thimphu's streets and markets.

The drive crosses the Dochula Pass with its 108 chortens on the way to the picturesque Phobjikha Valley. In the afternoon you visit Gangtey Monastery and take in the openness of this high valley.

A day for gentle walking and slowing down: the easy Gangtey Nature Trail winds through forests and pastures with beautiful views of the valley. In the afternoon there's time to meet local farming families.

You cross the Lawala Pass and descend into the subtropical Punakha Valley. Highlight of the day is the magnificent Punakha Dzong at the confluence of two rivers, one of Bhutan's most beautiful buildings.

Your two-day Bumdra Trek begins: you hike up through forest to Bumdra Camp at around 3,800 metres, with a magnificent view over the Paro Valley.

The second day of trekking takes you down to the famous Tiger's Nest monastery, spectacularly perched on a cliff face above the Paro Valley.

A quiet finish in the Paro Valley: depending on your preference, visit further sights, relax in a traditional hot stone bath, or simply let the trip wind down gently.
